I have a new place that I want to live! No it isn't leaving Paris at all.

I was given a flyer one day while walking down my market street for a "Portes Ouvertes." This is like an open house and it was in my neighborhood. Naturally I decided to go even though I wasn't feeling well. I had caught a nasty head and chest cold. Well, it turned out when I got there that it was an entire housing site for artists to live and work. I wandered around door-to-door looking at the artist's work but also at there homes. I was enthralled.

The place had been built in the 30's specifically for artist with huge north facing windows. The work spaces were immense with a double height ceiling and a loft space over the back portion, which I can only assume was the sleeping area. The ground space had the kitchen. I fell in lust.

These artist communities are many places around Paris and I am trying to find out how to sign up to be considered. It was such a strong feeling of being in a great place for me. I felt like I belonged. Wish me luck!

By the way, I met an artist who worked with and knew Salvador Dali at this place!
