The weather has changed, and how. To my California blood, it feels like winter and yet we are nowhere near the lowest temperatures yet. 3 days ago it changed by about 20º F in one day. It was running in the high 60’s and then the next day it was 50º and today was a high of 45º.
Inside my room it was only 60º so I finally broke down and turned on the heat. I just couldn’t hang out during the day in the house wearing 2 sweaters, one wool and a wool poncho and still have ice cubes for fingers and nose. In order to read, I was lying in bed under the covers to keep warm while sitting still. It is kind of hard to live life and do the things you need to do.I was trying to tough it out though because my roommate didn’t seem interested in turning on the heat and instead sat with a blanket over her shoulders or wrapped around her legs all day. I must say that it was the first time that I had seen that outside of old paintings. I didn’t realize that people still did that. She was also running around the house sneezing and sniffling and still not turning on the heat. Finally, I turned mine on in my room and shut the door. Then 2 nights ago I turned it on in the living room while she was in there. No complaints. On the streets everyone is bundled up in heavy wool coats and big twirls of scarves around their necks. Men as well as women have their scarf technique of choice. Everywhere you look, black is back filling up the boulevards.
